Exceptional Performance & Versatile Applications

The Harmony XL PRO by Alma provides versatility and is effective in treating an array of medical conditions and aesthetic indications. In fact, 65 distinct conditions are registered and cleared for treatment with full FDA approval and supportive clinical study data that shows they work. One standout area of performance is regarding the removal of tattoos. Here is how the machine works and why it proves so effective in eliminating undesired tattoos.

Mechanism of Action

Tattoos are created with the deliberate insertion of ink quantities within dermal layers. Traditionally, black ink alone was used but today’s tattoos are diverse in colouring. The way in which a tattoo is excised via laser relies on high intensity light pulses capable of breaking individual larger ink particles apart. This happens through thermal expansion; the result of rapid heating. Speed is a vital part of the process as one part of the particle must be heated quickly while the other remains cool. The concurrent forces of hot and cold exerts pressure, leading to particle breakdown. As larger ink particles are broken up into smaller bits, the immune/lymphatic system then becomes able to re-absorb and subsequently eliminate them.

Overcoming a Problematic Past for an Exciting Present

Previous generations of laser machines lacked the technological capabilities necessary to destroy the full range of ink colours due in large part to the sheer speed and power of wavelength required. After all, success depended on only the tattoo ink being affected while surrounding dermal tissue was left intact and undamaged. Usually, only black ink could be targeted with success but only in limited application due to the risk of harm in certain skin types and tones. Thankfully, the new ALMA Harmony XL PRO has changed the landscape to present more thorough removal options (including different ink colours and tones) available across diverse Client needs (including different skin types and pigmentations).

How the Harmony XL PRO achieves results!

The Harmony XL Pro implements high-intensity nanosecond pulses of specific wavelengths of light which create photo-acoustic shock waves fully capable of disintegrating ink particles that form the tattoo. Technically speaking, it utilizes a high power Q-Switched Nd:YAG 1064nm to treat darker colours such as black, dark blue, and green. Then it alternatively uses a 532nm wavelength to deal with the traditionally difficult, ‘brighter’ ink colour subset that includes red, orange, and yellow.

Paired together, effective targeting of ink particles across the colour spectrum in tattoos is achieved. It is also suitable for use on darker skin tones and more skin types with risks of dermal discolouration or scarring drastically reduced compared to that of previous technologies.

Bonus Benefits

Tattoo removal is unfortunately known to be uncomfortable (unlike the majority of laser treatments which are not considered to be painful). The reason for this is the sheer intensity of the light pulses employed in order to be effective. The Harmony XL Pro minimizes discomfort through the use of the unique ClearLift attachment. This allows for the powerful light pulses without causing thermal damage to skin; making it more comfortable then predecessor laser suites. Additionally, The Harmony XL Pro fades tattoos in fewer sessions to save you money, reduce discomfort, and alleviate inconvenience!

Individual Tattoo Assessment

Tattoos are received and removed for a variety of personal reasons. Regardless of the reason that removal is pursued, any individual desirous of removing a tattoo is deserving of an efficacious and comfortable intervention. While we can answer commonly asked questions below, please keep in mind that each tattoo necessitates an individualized medical consult.

Q: Is my tattoo suitable for removal? Individual consultation is required to assess and answer this question. With the advanced technology available at SAI the majority of tattoos are eligible for successful removal.

Q: How long does a tattoo removal session take? Removal session time will depend on far more than the size of an existing tattoo. The most important factors are ink depth and density. In most instances a removal session requires a nominal time investment. Some are as short as several seconds while others will last a bit longer. Dr Clark will be able to specifically inform you as to what to expect.

Q: Will it be painful to have my tattoo removed? Individual pain tolerance and tattoo placement location will influence discomfort. In most instances, removal is considered uncomfortable. The good news is that the unpleasant sensation is very brief and does not linger.

Q: Will I need to employ after-care following removal sessions? Yes, proper after-care such as moisturising and keeping the area clean is required; as is shielding the site from UV exposure.
