Tca peels: sai’s 3rd step in the stretch marks removal trio treatment plan.

This week, we are wrapping up our stretch marks treatment series with an article on the Skin Tech TCA peel, the third and last step of the protocol. If you have missed our first two articles on the Palomar non-ablative laser and the Dermapen, make sure to visit our blog!

Our goal when performing a chemical peel, is to improve the appearance of your skin and remove the damaged outer layers in a non-invasive way. Chemical peels and in particular TCA (Trichloroacetic acid) peels remove several layers of scarred tissue, leaving fresh skin which has a more even surface colour tone and texture.

At our practice, we mainly use TCA peels to treat skin pigmentation and uneven skin texture and this is precisely the reason why it works wonders on stretch marks. TCA peels, in combination with non-ablative laser and the Dermapen, make the skin smoother and reduce discoloration.

Because this kind of peel penetrates further into the skin than the milder peels such as AHAs, they have a greater ability to stimulate collagen and elastin for the depth of damage seen in stretch marks.

The Skin Tech TCA peel is strategically done after the Dermapen session because the product will then penetrate deeper into the skin than if it was done on its own. What this means is that it will promote faster cellular turnover and give you optimum stretch mark removal result.

At SAI, we also use TCA peels to treat a wide variety of indications on any location on the body and on any skin colour or type. TCA peels can be an excellent method of treating conditions such as:

  • Freckles
  • Solar keratosis/sun damage
  • Melasma
  • Wrinkles
  • Certain types of acne scars
