Sweet Simplicity

Thread Lifts offer a non-surgical means to creating an aesthetic lift. Early incarnations of the treatment back in the 1990’s, depended on permanently placed threads and were criticised for being one-directional and producing unnatural results. Since then both the threads and the techniques used have changed substantially allowing the modern Thread Lift to be well-recognized as an excellent minimally invasive procedure appropriate for a range of individuals looking to maximize their beauty without surgery.

What exactly is a Thread

A ‘Thread’ is known in medical terms as a ‘suture’. Modern threads utilized in medical aesthetics vary in thickness and slightly in composition. They may have ‘micro-extensions’ on them or be smooth. They are intentionally made to be re-absorbable and as such are made of polysaccharide sugar molecules capable of dissolving. This has given rise to the name ‘sugar lift’.

What areas can a Thread Lift rejuvenate

Threads can be used with excellent success where there is skin laxity, loosening of the facial structures including on the forehead, brow, mid face, under eyes, jawline/jowls, and neck. They can assist in minimizing facial roundness by defining profile contours. For more on non-surgical Facelifts, please click here.

How do Thread Lifts work

Threads are placed within the mid to superficial dermal layers. Their exact location is determined by the desired outcome and target area. As few as three or four threads or up to twenty plus may be inserted. Once placed, they are ‘set’ or tightened to suspend and elevate the surrounding tissue. While the ‘threads’ are left within skin layers; they are not considered permanent due to their dissolution with time. Threads take between twelve and fifteen months to disappear.

Who is a candidate for a Thread Lift

Thread Lifts are a superior option for individuals who have mild skin laxity concerns.  A Thread Lift is also a potential choice for individuals who have health conditions which prevent them from undergoing surgery due to the risk of general anaesthetic or those who do not want to make the financial or recovery time investment required by surgery.

Duel Action Anti-Ageing

Threads provide two big bonuses when it comes to anti-ageing results. Not only do they manually immediately lift tissue for a smooth and tightened aesthetic, they also stimulate collagen production where they are positioned for anti-ageing improvements that can last from two to five years.

What does a Thread Lift procedure entail

A Thread Lift is considered to be a minimally invasive procedure with a low-risk of complications. During the procedure, point of entry is marked on the skin and local anaesthetic is applied where the threads will be inserted. Next, either a needle or a cannula is used to place the threads under the skin’s surface. Once threads are in place, they are pulled taunt very gently in order to achieve the lifting effect. Once finished, Clients may leave and drive themselves home. After-care advice and specifics will be given and ought to be followed for best results. The most important of which is no high impact sports or exercise for 72 hours immediately after. A Thread Lift usually takes less than an hour and it does not require the significant recovery time that a surgical facelift does. Recovery is often likened to what one can expect following dermal filler injections.

What to watch out for when evaluating Threads as a treatment choice

As with all Aesthetic Medicine procedures the choice of Doctor and Clinic is of exceeding import. You should be confident with your Doctor’s medical knowledge, expertise with treatment type, familiarity with procedure methods and judgement. Ask questions, evaluate available before and after photographs, and ensure you understand techniques and approach before you begin.

What Risks Accompany the use of Threads

While the majority of risks are appropriately mitigated by a practised medical professional familiar with facial anatomy; undergoing a Thread Lift is not risk-free. Common side-effects are swelling, bruising, or bleeding. Rarer but more serious complications include; dimpling, migration of thread, infection, or pain.

Accessible Procedure with Excellent Results

Threads are a simple, straightforward, go-to rejuvenation procedure capable of elevating drooping skin without the effort, cost, and risk of surgery. It is affordable and accessible but appropriate expectations are a necessity. This is due to Thread Lift results being more subtle in nature than more complex and expensive surgical Face Lifts. For individuals bothered by signs of ageing; Threads can be an excellent solution!
