The use of lasers has moved far beyond hair removal. Their appropriateness for hair removal is well- known as in this function they have received a lot of press time. What many individuals don’t know is that Lasers are capable of so much more! Their popularity continues to grow as technology advances.
What has Changed with Laser Technology?
The Right Tool for the Right Job.
No longer do we depend on one single type of laser light to multi-task. Instead, to specifically target an individual’s goals, an experienced Aesthetic physician will finely tune a wide variety of settings to be appropriate.
Adjustments made alter the light spectrum used, depth of light delivery, the speed of light pulses, focus area of skin addressed and more.
Here are some of the major changes that have affected what Lasers can deliver:
No More Burn!
Lasers now have built in cooling mechanisms. These cool the skin down while the light is being applied. This allows the sensation during treatment to be more comfortable.
Ablative vs. Non-ablative
Non-ablative lasers do their job without damaging the skin’s surface while ablative lasers do have an effect on surface level skin – which is sometimes required to produce the desired final result. Depending on the treatment you may be able to receive results without ever showcasing unwanted side effects & recovery-time.
Light Wave
Light wave is instrumental in how the Laser achieves results.
• 1064Nano Metre Light Penetrates deeply (even into blood vessels) to treat from within the skin without affecting the skin’s surface.
• 1540 Light Offers direct intense light deep below the skin surface to stimulate collagen production and benefit from the body’s natural healing cascade.
Optimized Pulse Light (OPL) versus Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
The way lasers deliver light has advanced. While there remains scope for IPL use in Aesthetics, OPL is the evolution of the IPL technology. OPL offers higher energy pulses which can speed-up recovery time (making downtime not required at all) and also minimize the risk of unwanted pigmentation forming. It delivers these benefits by addressing skin pigment and haemoglobin more specifically in the deeper layer of dermis. This can also provide the advantage of requiring fewer treatments than previous technology did!
Hair Removal Done Better
Take razors off your shopping list and say goodbye to stubble and painful waxing forever. Lasers have advanced even in this role for which they are most famous. They offer continually more sophisticated options for permanent hair removal worth exploring; especially if you are ready to experience the freedom from the ongoing maintenance of unwanted body hair.
